The project consisting of renovating a 500sqm chalet for the parents, that also acts as a gathering space for the entire family; individual units for the children and two diwaniyas. With that in mind, the diwanyas were positioned at the entrance of the property; with the most privates spaces of the chalet for the family with view of the water. A typical, repetitive unit was designed (200 aqm) that included contained an open living + dining, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and three bathrooms. The renovation consisted of updating the interior as well as the exterior to ensure that all the units spoke the same visual language. All the units contained shared service spaces (swimming pool and playgrounds) as well as outdoor recreational areas. For this project, the idea was to reveal as much of the natural structure as possible and introduce key materials and details to link the spaces. The main areas of the house thus contain exposed ribbed concrete slabs, hidden cove lights and linked through the use of white and gray colors. With that mind, only half of the property is built; considering the future expansion of the family. Consisting of a basement, ground, first and second floor; the house is divided into a series of volumes. A large cantilever protrudes outwards creating privacy from the neighbors and acts as a connection between the two volumes. Designed by @office_313 Status : unbuilt Concept: Bukit is an up and coming burger joint located in Kuwait City . The project’s design is mainly inspired from the brand’s eccentric branding . The design attempts to blur the lines between reality and fantasy . Through the use of holographic and reflective materials, optical and sensory illusions emerge throughout the small and compact space. Through the use of mirrors and louvers, a sense of blissful confusion emerges . The project’s essence lies in designing a space that would encapsulate Bukit’s eccentric branding whilst also being trendy and hip amongst the youth .The project acts as a response to the relatively small project footprint and the eccentric brand identity . By using reflective steel louvers and holographic lit up ceiling as main elements, this allowed us to utilize the longitudinal space and provide a playful yet immersive experience. By doing so, this results in one seamless uninterrupted space whereby both users and patrons can enjoy the playful Bukit experience. The project articulates two main areas: kitchen and dine in area . The kitchen and dining area are delineated by a series of holographic louvers . The main seating area is separated into a main dine in area and bar seating . A designated take- out only area is located near the kitchen. The project’s material palette consists of stainless steel, iridescent steel and mirrors.
